Chiefs coach Todd Haley said Wednesday that he hasn’t been inside Arrowhead Stadium since he was hired in February, saying he was preserving that experience for his first game. He’ll experience that Saturday, during Kansas City’s preseason opener against Houston.

“I have not been in it,” Haley said. “I'm saving that.”

Haley has been inside Arrowhead several times as an opposing assistant coach, most recently during last year’s preseason game against Arizona, when Haley was the offensive coordinator. But even when he took a tour of his new team’s facilities upon being hired in Kansas City, Haley passed on the most memorable stop.

“I didn't want to intentionally,” he said.
