Center Rudy Niswanger is one of the Chiefs' three potential restricted free agents. They made him a tender offer today of about $1.5 million, which gives the Chiefs the right to match any offer Niswanger receives and a second-round draft pick if they decline to match.
Another starter, safety Jarrad Page, and reserve wide receiver Jeff Webb, could also be restricted free agents. The Chiefs will probably extend an offer to Page, at least.
The free agency period begins late tonight.

Why. this guy was terrible. He is weak at the point of attack as soon as the ball is snapped he is always driven back. He is two weak to play in the NFL. It's obvious he not a mauler like Grunny or a technician like Weigaman.

He should be shifted to right guard. He's too tall to play center in the NFL. He could be pretty good at guard. Then get a center and right tackle.
Keep page and keep pollard because of his special teams play. Both are raw and inconsistant but page has way more upside. Pollard hits hard but is hardly ever in position to make plays but when he is there he brings the wood and show flashes of being a star. Remember both are still very young and raw but have talent, they just need the right scheme. What it all boils down to is pash rush. When opposing qb's can stand in the pocket, check the wind and throw it to whoever they want its kinda hard to lock down recievers for that long. I mean seriously who else are we going to plug into these two spots?? No worthy free agents here so let's stick with them for another year or so and see what happens. Everyone is so quick to shoot them down but forget they're so young. This rebuilding process is going to take TIME!
Bernard Pollard was a second round pick out of Purdue 3 years ago. Yes there are major holes on the OL, from the C all the way to RT. And don't forget the Safety we picked up in the 3rd round last year. Duan Morgan out of North Carolina, formerly had a ride to Ohio State untill he broke his leg. He ranked best safety in 2 of the 3 draft guides I had last year, and the 3rd he was 2nd. Maybe it was a week safety class last year, I don't know, but keep Page, lose Page, it may not make any difference.

Lets not start bannering for the 30 somthings the Peterson era is over, keep building with young talent
Jared Page is far too underrated. "He's Better than Pollard." Well I can't agree with that. I think both are soild safties. Pollard is going to hit his stride this year. He's getting better and better about stuffing the run. Page IS a ball hawk and his numbers WILL improve this season if and ONLY if they can get to the QB. Even more so if they go to the 3-4. Jeff Webb either didn't get his shot in KC or he blew it. Joey galloway or T.J Housh. or even Washington would be good here. Rudy would be a nice back up to Jeff Saturday or bring a stud rookie at Center. The Chiefs can saftly say they are good at corners and safties for awhile.
Jeff webb would not be a good replacement for him on Saturday or Sunday! Trade him for a better QB to back up Brodie Croyl next year.
No team in football needs Jason Brown C like the Chiefs need him, pay him. If we don't get him there's a slim chance for Alex Mack C (best in class) or Duke Robinson G (best in class) with our second pick. The defensive backs will be better after we add Aaron Curry and Cris Canty, it would be a miracle but you gotta believe !! By the way, for all you non-believers, paying Brown ( 26 yrs ) and Canty ( 26 yrs ) isn't mortgaging our future, their very young and experienced and would provide a core of talent for years.
Niswanger was not that great last year, we should let a team get him and pick up that draft pick. I don't understand how we just drafted only Albert, and we expect him to magically fill all the holes on the offensive line not just LT. Am I the only one that sees that this line still has MAJOR holes?
No team is going to make a tender for Niswanger. We're not picking up a 2nd rounder for him. We'll have him as a backup in 2009 and let him go in UFA in 2010.
We have holes at three positions on the line. Which I think we'll fill in FA and the draft.
And everyone defending Page apparently doesn't think it necessary for our FS to be able to tackle or cover.
uhh Nope. He's a reserve at best and deserves to be paid like one. He and Pollard were horrible the last 3 years.
Page and Pollard was very late round picks we need to keep both. Let not forget they are very young, scond year and still the youngest on the team we need to keep them.
Page is a good player. It would be a huge mistake to let him go. "Let the Jarred Page experiment die" is just crazy! The team has plenty of places to fill holes. To create another hole in a place of strength would be idiotic! It's a good thing that crazy fans don't actually make any decisions for the team!
I don't hate Niswanger, and he'll be a good backup at OG/C next season.

Jarrad Page is a solid player who is better than Pollard. He has the right attitude, covers well, and for the last three years was the closest thing to a ball hawk we had. If we could actually get some pressure on the qb i think that Page's numbers would increase dramatically. Not retaining him would be a mistake.
