The Chiefs re-signed cornerback Tyron Brackenridge, who played for Kansas City last season and went to camp again this season. He was released shortly before the start of the regular season.
Dimitri Patterson was released. Patterson, playing as the nickel back for the injured Patrick Surtain, allowed the winning touchdown pass in the final minute of last week's loss to the Jets.
Well said, when you are 1-5 what do you have to lose. Those are the kind of positions you test your team and give them experience in those situations. Herm played not to lose, which is exactly what happened. This one is on Herm & Gailey for changing their game plan. Especially when you have the chance to spring a big upset to give your team confidence.
Maybe they were afraid of winning the game and lose the chance to ruin another top pick! There is no other explanation for their jaw-dropping mistakes...!
I have no problem losing if we played well and the other team played better and beat us. When we end a very promising (almost all-round) performance though some knuckle headed play call, it is particularly galling.
Even though we are a young team and will probably lose close games and even get blown out, when we surrender a game not because of poor play, but because of poor coaching decisions, it must be disappointing and discouraging to the team, especially a young one.
I feel really frustrated when I see coaches extract great performances from players that they picked up in low rounds and from walk-in college free agents. A coach is not somebody who just sucks on a Sharpie in the sideline. There is a specific purpose for the Sharpie and the clipboard!
But I was very impressed with Tyler. He made just one single bad throw. Otherwise he was sharp, strong and intelligent. Even if he stinks in the upcoming game, we should give him the chance to grow and not reach for the nearest washed up free agent whenever things go wrong.
Anyway - win or lose - Go Chiefs!

If we are going to release Patterson because he gave up the game-winning TD to Favre, I believe we should also release Chan Gailey and Herman Edwards for putting Patterson in that position.
I am sure that everyone reading this was thinking the same thing as me when KC ran the ball for 9 yards with 3 minutes left in the game. They were protecting a 4 point lead against a QB who is known for late-game heroics.
Herman and Chan were so worried about the clock that they blew their chance to ice the game. Sure, if they called a pass play that resulted in an incompletion, the clock would have stopped.
But on the other hand, 10 yards might have clinched a win.
We have seen what 9 yards clinched for us.
