Damon Huard revealed he has torn ligaments in the thumb on his passing hand. Huard hit his hand on an opponent’s shoulder pad while following through on a pass in last week’s loss to Tennessee.

Huard said the ligaments are only partially torn and will not need surgery to heal.

The Chiefs placed Huard on the injured-reserve list, ending his season. Huard said he won’t be able to throw for at least five or six weeks, so even if the Chiefs had kept him on the active roster, Huard might have been available for only three or four games.
