The Chiefs aren't likely to move past the discussions phase with former All-Pro quarterback Daunte Culpepper, leaving more questions about which direction the team might go after losing Brodie Croyle this past Sunday.

The Chiefs were scheduled to speak with Culpepper on Monday, but it appears that's as far as the sides will get.

The Chiefs also were scheduled to observe a workout by former Tampa Bay quarterback Bruce Gradkowski on Monday.

If the Chiefs don't sign a passer this week, they'll enter the Jets game with banged-up veteran Damon Huard, second-year quarterback Tyler Thigpen and Ingle Martin, who coach Herm Edwards said Sunday wasn't ready to lead the Chiefs offense.
