Chiefs plan to honor Gonzalez on Sunday

If the Chiefs intend to trade tight end Tony Gonzalez, they have a funny way of showing it.

The club today announced plans to honor Gonzalez with a pre-game tribute before Sunday's game against Tennessee in recognition of his setting the NFL record for most career receiving yards by a tight end.

Gonzalez, according to the Chiefs, "will be singled out as the team is introduced to all those in attendance."

The Gonzalez tribute will be part of the franchise's annual alumni celebration. Former defensive tackle Curley Culp will be honored as the newest member of the Chiefs Hall of Fame, and former cornerback Emmitt Thomas will receive his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring in pre-game ceremonies.

If Gonzalez is traded by Tuesday afternoon, I guess he'll still qualify as a member of the Chiefs' alumni.

U may surprise to know about it that i dont know about that...Actually i was surfing net to get data related to the projects of testking 70-620 , 70-630 and 70-640 and in the meantime came here and find this post different one,well thx for sharing that!

I can't believe the Chiefs are going down faster than the stock market! I absolutely hate to see our only legitimate franchise player leave, but if he goes, might as well go to the Jets where he could relate to another team icon that was screwed by his organization.

Hopeful for Tony.

I hope the best for Tony. I still have most of his rookie cards and always will. He does desire a ring and he should get one. Sorry that the Chiefs are not that team, and they haven't been for quite some time. We are lucky as fans that he has been here with the Chiefs as long as he has. I am. Do I want him to go some where else? He!! NO, but nature of this beast is that he has to go some where else to receive the S.B. ring. Sad thing is the one that should be gone off this team is still here and should never have been here in the first place. He still needs his diapers changed. DV was right about him, and CP was vary wrong about him. Now NO one wants him. So now WE're stuck with him. Sorry LJ i never liked your style from the get go. CP should turn in his resignion as soon as he aproves the trade on TG. Well that's my two cents worth. Good Luck Tony please remeber your fans of the Chiefs.

how do you feel about this? Send Gonzalez and Johnson to the Eagles in a package deal for one of their first round draft choices and Lilo Sheppard. He is a heck of a player and on top of that he is only 27 (or around) and he has expressed ill feelings towards his current team after they didn't redo his contract and eventually signed cornerback Asante Samuel. This gives us four first round draft choices in two years and Sheppard would provide us with better run tackling on defence. The Eagles of course would have someone to fill in for the frequently injured Brian Westbrook and what more of a reliant reciever could McNabb ask for than Gonzalez? With Herm and Carl's history with the Eagles I don't see why this trade would be out of the question.

Probably should change the name of the team to the KC Gonzalez or KC Gonzal'I' - hope he gets traded and is outta here by tomorrow.

Do it Carl P & pas the kleenex before even the fans of the Chiefs 'team' drown in other folks misguided blubbering.

They could of maybe, I don't know, have honored him, during the Denver game, with maybe just a teansy weansy pass for maybe three yards. I don't think Denver would have minded, and Tony could have gotten the applause that was deserved, and we as Chiefs fans could have gave it to him. Tony, on behalf of myself and all the friends I have that are fans as well, thanks for the memories. Now go find a team and just win one, but don't forget your fans here in K.C.

Just another misleading and embarrassing bungle by the Chiefs front office. How humiliating will that be? Gonzo in a Giants uniform next sunday while the 10,000 fans in attendance watching a tribute to a guy who was just traded.

That's about the size of it. Carl should then hang himself with the drapes in his office,
the exclaimation point on a protracted episode of NFL ineptitude.
The long-demonstrated loyalty of Chiefs fans is no longer warranted.

At least the Chiefs are consistent with the management of this team! They dont know what they are doing and dont care! Carl is looking forward to retirement after riding the gravy train for all this time, Herm is just waiting to get fired and has given up, and Clark is probably just one step away from selling this team on EBay from his home in the Caribbean. Tell me I'm Wrong!! Lamar is Rolling over in his grave! Tony, I hope you find a good home! Larry, thanks for nothing! Bring Back Cowher!!!!

Since there going to honor Tony Sunday, I guess this means Tony won't be traded , the deadline is tomorrow. If he's traded , he sure won't be here.
Good Luck Tony hope you get what you want, by all means you have given your all to the Chiefs and they should honor your request.
