The New York Jets say they'll make a move with quarterback Chad Pennington by 3 this afternoon, now that they have acquired Brett Favre from Green Bay.

Hopefully that move will involve the Chiefs.

I know the Chiefs are committed to Brodie Croyle. I know the Chiefs' offense under Chad Gailey is not the same scheme Pennington ran for Herm Edwards in New York.

And I know Pennington has been injury prone. Playing behind a shaky line in Kansas City is an invitation to the disabled list.

BUT ... Croyle is just as injury prone, if not more so. And when he goes down, I'll take my chances with Pennington over Tyler Thigpen or Damon Huard.

Pennington is a bright guy, will pick up the offense as a backup and though his arm strength is not great, he won't make mistakes.

I know this flies in the face of the youth movement, but Pennington, at 32, is not ancient. He'd be an ideal insurance policy and pretty good mentor for Croyle and Thigpen.
