The Chiefs added a wide receiver Tuesday, after they were awarded former San Diego wideout Chris Chambers after putting in a waiver claim.
Chambers was waived Monday after two-plus seasons with the Chargers. He spent his first seven seasons with Miami.
Chambers, who was named to the 2005 Pro Bowl, had just nine catches in seven games with San Diego.
It doesn't hurt the Chiefs to bring him in, and there's a chance he has something left. But Chambers' age and that San Diego just gave up on him could mean that his best years are far behind him.
This addresses the Chiefs' "open" roster spot, which was made vacant temporarily because of the Larry Johnson suspension. The Chiefs also could have another open spot this week, if Jarrad Page's calf injury is as severe as expected and lands him on injured reserve. Jon McGraw also is injured, although his injury isn't nearly as significant as the one that could end Page's season. If Page is put on IR this week, look for the Chiefs to sign another safety or promote Ricky Price from the practice squad.

Let's get Wade back in the slot. At least a has-been has a clue, our never-will-be WRs sure don't. A new attitude may put a spark back into this guy. Remember Hayley is a WR coach, he should know how to use Chambers and how to motivate him. Not much is said about Smith, will he be activated this week? Can KC get a roster exemption for him? Can he run the 65 toss power trap? I don't think Charles can. Where's Mike Garrett? Somebody get me Mike Garrett! Lenny, where is Mike Garrett???
