Chiefs suspend Larry Johnson

The Chiefs have suspended running back Larry Johnson for two weeks, effectively immediately. The punishment is for conduct detrimental to the team.

Johnson is forbidden to be at team headquarters or participate in team activities before Nov. 9, the day after the Chiefs play at Jacksonville.

The Chiefs told Johnson on Tuesday to stay away from the team's practice facility, but that was not a suspension. Now that it has become a suspension, Johnson will forfeit his game checks for the next two weeks, which will cost the 29-year-old back about $660,000 total.

Does any runner in the upcomming draft look like a top 5 pick? (chiefs looking like the fifth pick team)

I like Ingram from Alabama and C.J. Spiller from Clemson. I dont think there top 5

Are there any free agents...... if there are the real question WILL THE CHIEFS GIVE A TOP FREE AGENT MONEY?

Just want some of you to be a GM. The chiefs have 32 million in dead cap money, cutting LJ would hurt. No money for top free agent(not the chiefs MO anyway), no one in top five worth it.

LJ will be the next Shaun Alexander,cut by the redskins in 2011.

Chief's problems are deeper than LJ

Granted Clark is new but I do not think the problems are new.
I've wondered why the Chiefs felt compelled to scrap the best offense in the league and start all over rather than attempt to build around it. I would agree that age has something to do with it, but the skeem worked. I'm not an expert by any means, but when I review league statistics I've noticed that most playoff caliber teams are in the top rankings on one side of the ball and no worse than average on the other. With the top ranked offense, all the Chiefs would have needed to do was improve the worst defense to average to become a contender. Maybe Al Sanders carried too much baggage but no one can discount the potency of his offensive skeem.

Also to add, you have to remember that Clark is new to the owner role. He inherited the team from his dad Lamar Hunt. So he has a bit of a learning curve.

Chiefs problem is much deeper than LJ

While LJ is the focus of attention right now, this situation seems to me to be a symptom of a deeper root problem. What is it exactly that we can call the strength(s) of the Chief organization? It can't be selecting, development and retaining talent as we've seen with the animosity and departure of Tony G, G Allen, and retention of LJ to name a few. It is also interesting to see former Chief discard playing significant roles for winning teams like Vonnie H, D Wilkinson, L Tynes, K Mitchel. Is it scouting? Remeber when the Chiefs were in desperate need of someone who could punt and kick off into the end zone? Well there was a Pro Bowl player just 120 miles south of Arrowhead under their nose and they overlooked. BTW Brian Mooreman garnered the NFL special teams award with a 45.0 yard average on punts that helped Buffalo take a 20-9 win over Carolina. Of his eight punts, four went inside the 20-yard line and he recorded a 50-yard punt for the seventh straight game. In his ninth year out of Pittsburg State, it is his fifth weekly award.
How about our K-State product Darren Sproles who helped make the Chief defense look ridiculous last week. The root issue with the Chiefs is deep within the organization and starts with Clark Hunt. Until he demands improvements deep within the organization we will continue to see the same ineptitude us poor fans have endured for too long.

Whatever happened to freedom of speech. How many of us have publicly complained about our boss. Does that mean that they should be suspended or fired. Hell find a fast food worker that doesn't complain about his/her boss. All that Larry did was state the obvious. I know what your thinking, he was suspended for the gay slurs but come on. Coach Haley got his feelings hurt when LJ called him out. Just because your suppose to be a role model doesn't mean that you have to give up your rights as an American.

You have some points... but if you have not noticed we have a new GM and Head Coach this year. They were not in the organization when these things happened. Pioli did not trade Allen, or let Wilkinson or Holiday go. He traded Tony G, but for all of you that do not remember, Tony wanted out of here. He asked to be traded, so they got the best they could for an old TE.

If memory serves me correctly, didn't we trade 1st round draft picks with Pittsburgh so that they could pick Troy Palaumalu, and we took LJ?

$17k per touch! Damn, no wonder the tickets are out of sight high.

Disappointed

I must say I'm very disappointed, but not surprised, about LJ only being suspended for two weeks. This is shameful. It appears that in this regard, Clarke Hunt, Paoli and Haley are no different than Lamar Hunt, Peterson and Edwards. How many chances does LJ deserve? Maybe he'll have to kill somebody before his anger becomes a serious problem.

They should have traded LJ

They should have traded LJ when they traded Gonzalez. LJ should have never made any gay slurs but he was right when he commeted on Haley. They should suspend Haley for impersonation of a coach. This is the worst coached team in the NFL.

Overpaid Anyway

So he makes $330,000 per game?!

So that means so far this year he hs made $6,453 per YARD that he has gained.

Or to look at it another way, so far this year he is making $17,500 per CARRY!!! Everytime he's touched the ball this year he's made $17,500!!! What a JOKE.
