Larry Johnson, the embattled Chiefs running back, resumed activity tonight on his Twitter page. On Sunday night, he took several digs at coach Todd Haley and then lashed out at several of his Twitter followers, once using a gay slur that preceded his slur Monday morning in the Chiefs locker room.

Johnson was asked by the team Tuesday to stay away from Chiefs headquarters and to not participate in team activities. Investigations are ongoing by the team and the NFL, and Johnson's future remains uncertain. Johnson released an apologetic statement Tuesday through his agent, Peter Schaffer.

At about 7 p.m. today, LJ posted three tweets to his profile, ToonIcon, which went private Monday morning.

In response to a supportive follower, Johnson posted: "Thanks. Sorry for the embarassement."

A little earlier, Johnson responded to a follower who had posted what appeared to be a tweak at Johnson, who apparently corrected that follow on where he's from: "born in Washington DC Nov 19th Raised in Charles County Maryland til age 17. Attended Westlake high school."

And to another, who asked Johnson why he didn't get the "white boi treatment" like NFL analyst Bob Griese:"The way it is my brother"

Johnson's agent, Schaffer, told The Star on Monday that he advises Johnson and his other clients to be careful on Twitter. Schaffer said he preferred that his clients avoid social-networking sites, but the agent said he doesn't force players to stop expressing themselves online.

"They're not making money on it," Schaffer said. "I don't see (any benefit)."

At least for now, Johnson seems to have enough reason -- and, of course, plenty more time -- to share his thoughts.
