Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has been asked to stay away from team activities, and he is not at team headquarters today as Kansas City returns to practice.
It is not a suspension but is similar to the punishment Johnson faced after last year's bye week, when the Chiefs benched him after a series of arrests.
A team statement stated that the Chiefs are "continuing to investigate the alleged comments made by Larry Johnson. Until that review is complete, the Chiefs have instructed Larry to refrain from practicing with the Chiefs or participating in other team activities."
Johnson made a series of inappropriate comments on his Twitter profile on Sunday night, and he used a gay slur to reporters Monday, after saying he wouldn't speak publicly until Thursday.

I'm not an insider, but here is my hierarchy of what I think the Chiefs will try to do:
1. Suspend him without pay
2. Suspend him with pay
3. Suspend him without pay as many games as the rules allow, then de-activate him for the rest.
I think #3 above is the most likely scenario. Isn't that how the Eagles handled T.O. a few years ago?
Oh, and let Junior go play in Chicago with that other tool, Cutler.
