Raiders' Walker wants to see Favre play somewhere

NAPA, Cal. _ I couldn't resist asking Oakland receiver Javon Walker for his take on the Brett Favre situation.

Walker spent four seasons as one of Favre's favorite receivers in Green Bay, and Favre was critical of Walker when the receiver didn't participate in the club's off-season program a few years ago.

The weird, wild world of late-night negotiations

When the last player stepped off the bus and Glenn Dorsey wasn't there, Chiefs president Carl Peterson told reporters he was ready -- and had been -- to negotiate with Dorsey's agent, Joel Segal.

Segal, though, was like many agents and wasn't ready to finalize negotiations -- apparently because, among other reasons, the sun was out.

Kickers get off to inauspicious start

Chiefs kickers Nick Novak and Connor Barth each made a sour first impression during Saturday afternoon's field goal drills, missing each of their first attempts.

Both tries were from 38 yards. Novak's kick bounced off the right upright, and Barth's attempt was wide left.

Dorsey arrives in River Falls

Glenn Dorsey, the Chiefs' top pick, has signed his contract and is on the UW-River Falls campus.

He is expected to practice with the team at 3:30 p.m., a little more than two hours after finalizing his contract.

Gonzalez still has it

Tony Gonzalez is 32 but didn't show any signs of a decline at practice this morning.

Donnie Edwards was in position to make an interception of Brodie Croyle's pass, but Gonzalez rushed in to pry the ball out of Edwards' hands before he could gain control.

Dorsey contract numbers

Glenn Dorsey's new contract is for six years but he can void the final season. Maximum value is $51 million. About $23 million of it is guaranteed.

Dorsey is on his way to River Falls and the Chiefs expect him to practice this afternoon.

Dorsey agrees to contract terms

The Chiefs and top draft pick Glenn Dorsey agreed to contract terms and they are expecting him to arrive at training camp today.

Contract terms were immediately unavailable.

Dorsey, the fifth pick in the draft, will immediately step in as a starting defensive tackle.
