Charles’ touchdown, the Chiefs’ first rushing TD of the season, came on fourth down and one . . . The Raiders lost a pair of big gains on back to back plays. First Darius Heyward-Bey dropped a deep pass at the KC 2. Then a 53-yard Russell to Louis Murphy pass was called back because of Robert Gallery’s tripping penalty . . . Matt Cassel was looking deep for Chris Chambers deep but Johnson went up and over Chambers to make the catch . . . Ryan, Morgan inactive

Two of last week's starters, tight end Sean Ryan and safety DaJuan Morgan, are inactive for today's game in Oakland. The active tight ends are Leonard Pope and Brad Cottam. Jon McGraw will return to the starting lineup in Morgan's place.

The other inactive players are wide receiver Bobby Wade, linebackers Justin Rogers and David Herron, tight end Jake O'Connell and cornerback Donald Washington. Matt Gutierrez is the third quarterback.

The odds on anyone signing Johnson are ...

It's my humble opinion, but barring a catastrophic turn of events in which a team's entire running back corps is wiped out, no NFL team is going to touch Larry Johnson this season.

The aggrevation factor totally outweighs his production.

At this point of the season, teams in the playoff race don't want to disrupt their chemistry. And teams out of the race need to look at their young players, not some 30-year old trouble-maker.

RG Mike Goff moved to IR; Chiefs sign Rogers

The Chiefs moved right guard Mike Goff to injured reserve on Wednesday, and he'll miss the rest of the season with his shoulder injury.

Andy Alleman is expected to move into the starting right guard position.

To fill the open roster spot, the Chiefs have re-signed linebacker Justin Rogers, who spent a week with the Chiefs earlier this season.

Washington signs a running back not named Johnson

So much for Washington's interest in Larry Johnson, at least for now.

Washington, which likely will be without Clinton Portis (concussion) this week for its game against Denver, today placed safety Chris Horton on Injured Reserve and re-signed running back Quinton Ganther.

Ganther, originally signed with the team on Oct. 20, but was inactive for the team’s Week 7 contest against Philadelphia, prior to the Redskins bye week. He was released this past Saturday.

LJ speaks, says he's still a 'fan' of Haley and Pioli

Larry Johnson spoke today for the first time on the Dan Patrick Show, and he had positive things to say about his experience in Kansas City.

Including this: "I was -- and still am -- the biggest Todd Haley fan," Johnson said, according to a transcription as posted by ProFootballTalk.com. "I am a big Todd Haley fan and I'm a Scott Pioli fan."

NFL to take no further action against LJ

The NFL will not add to Larry Johnson's punishment for making anti-gay remarks on his Twitter account or to reporters in the Chiefs locker room.

The Chiefs suspended Johnson for two weeks _ one week without pay _ for his remarks and criticisms of coach Todd Haley and released him on Monday.

According to NFL senior vice-president Greg Aiello, that was sufficient.

"The club took disciplinary action in this matter, and we determined it was appropriate," Aiello told The Star in an e-mail.

LJ is long gone

The aura of Larry Johnson might remain for some time around the Chiefs practice facility but his physical presence was wiped clean by the time the media was allowed into the locker room at mid day.

The nameplate above his locker had been removed. His locker was empty other than three white towels neatly folded and stacked and a few clothes hangars.

Predictably, reaction from players was muted. No doubt they were mindful of the words that sent Johnson on his path out of town.

LJ is gone, and his legacy in Kansas City is sealed

The Larry Johnson era is finished in Kansas City, and that means one of the most prolific runners in team history has his legacy: He will be remembered for his troubles and not his skills.

The Chiefs released Johnson on Monday morning, two weeks after he made disparaging comments that got him suspended two weeks. Johnson's suspension was scheduled to expire today.

But it seemed during those two weeks that, regardless of his suspension time table, he would never again wear a Chiefs uniform. It just seemed like too much of a stretch. Johnson became the face of poor judgment in Kansas City, and his last time wasn't his first time. He and Kansas City seemed a bad fit from the start, and Johnson complained and called out coaches and asked to be sent somewhere else for years.
